Student of the Month Options

Showcasing student and staff accomplishments has always been a popular request from our clients, and understandably so, as it significantly drives traffic to their website. I wanted to take this learning opportunity to explore features within WordPress that would not only elevate the visual appeal of “Student of the Month” requests, but also streamline the process for updaters. Thanks for the chance to play around a bit 🙂

Accordian Module

I keep coming back to the accordian module to showcase information such as a student of the month. It provides an organized way to display entries throughout the school year, and showcases the most recent entry first. One possible issue might be that the image is not saved within a separate image module. This option appears to be mobile friendly.

January Athletes of the Month

Each month in conjunction with Roy’s Convenience Stores, two athlete will be selected for Athlete of the Month. The recipients will receive a $25 gift certificate to Roy’s. For the month of January, the Athletes of the Month are Gatlin Portell and Jamison Politte. Congratulations to Gatlin and Jamison, and a huge thanks to Roy’s for supporting our athletes.

January Students of the Month

Valley R-VI Junior High/High School awarded the January Student of the Month on Wednesday, January 31. This month’s category was “Critical Thinking”.The junior high recipient was Colton Scott, and the high school recipient was Walter Strother. We would like to give a huge thank you to Roy’s Convenience Store for donating pizza for our students of the month.

This option could display up to 12 slides to highlight student of the month for a school year, and a built-in button if we want to link to something like an accessible PDF. This module needs some tweaking to make it mobile friendly.
